CONWAY - Coastal Carolina is proud to announce that head coach Kelley Green and her Big South Championship coaching staff and players will host two separate summer camps during July.

The camps offer an opportunity for players to receive valuable instruction on the fundamental skills of softball. Campers will be made aware of the characteristics that define successful softball players. Organized games between campers will provide a competitive outlet after specific drills have been practiced. Contests built into drills capture the learner's attention, which results in attentive practice.

Drill progressions will be aimed towards recognizing and developing good habits in all aspects of the game. General courtesy, respect for teammates and opponents and the importance of hard work will be taught to the campers through example by the Chanticleers coaches.

The first camp, designated for girls 14 and up with intermediate to advance skill levels, will be held Monday, July 16 through Thursday, July 19 at the Coastal Carolina Softball Field. The camp features both commuter and resident options. The camp will provide each player with the tools necessary to take her game to the next level in a challenging and fun-filled atmosphere. Each camper will have the opportunity to increase her knowledge of the game and develop proper fundamentals on the offensive and defensive side of the ball through drill work and competitive games each day.

The second Chanticleer camp is a youth day camp for girls ages 13 and under with beginner to intermediate skill levels. The camp is slated to run from 9 a.m. to noon on Monday, July 23 through Thursday, July 26. The camp is directed towards skill development of the beginner to intermediate softball player. Athletes will be separated based on skill level when necessary for the optimal learning experience. Proper teaching and repetition of drills will be conducted daily so athletes can develop strong fundamentals and mechanics. Daily sessions will include time spent on fielding, throwing, pitching, hitting and base running.
