Forbes Named All-Sun Belt

Troy, Ala. - Coastal Carolina University's Taty Forbes has been named First Team All-Sun Belt Conference. The Sun Belt Conference released the honorees at Tuesday's Banquet which officially kicks off the Sun Belt Conference Softball Tournament.

The sophomore concluded the regular season leading the Sun Belt in hitting with a .411 batting average. She also was tied for first in the league with 35 stolen bases and her 39 stolen bases attempts were second.

She finished the regular season with 67 hits which was tied for the third most in the conference.

It is the second time the Washington native has received all conference honors. Last season she was named the Big South Conference's Freshman of the Year along with being named to the All-Big South team.

Several other CCU student-athletes were honored for their work in the classroom. Named to the Sun Belt Academic Honor Roll were Alexis Alvino, Chelsea D'Avilar, Taylor Rahach and Kailey Mellen.

The Chanticleers also had Timi Tooley and Angela Buccilli named to the Sun Belt Commissioner's List. As a team CCU was recognized with the Team Academic Award.

Forbes and the Chanticleers will kick off the Sun Belt Tournament Wednesday morning when they open tourney play against Texas-Arlington. The game is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m. (ET). Keep up with the game at
