Softball Sweeps Appalachian State
CONWAY - The storms that made their way through Conway during Thursday and early Friday morning caused a delay of three hours before Coastal Carolina and Appalachian started their scheduled double-header.
Game 1: Coastal 5 - App State 1

Ashley Guillette (12-9) pitched a complete game two-hitter in winning game one of the double-header. She struck out eight and only allowed one run, winning 5-1.
CCU scored single runs in the first, second and fifth, while adding two runs in the sixth.
Taty Forbes led off the game with an infield single. She was able to move around the bases on a stolen base, sacrifice bunt and scored the first run on a Kailey Mellen sacrifice fly.
In the second inning Angele Buccilli singles in Alexis Alvino who had led off the inning with a walk.
CCU then pushed across an unearned run in the fifth and added two more runs on one hit and another error in the sixth for the final count.
Appalachian State scored their lone run in the third inning when a Haley Stewart single scored Megan Walker who had earlier walked and stole second.
Game 2: Coastal 3 - App State 2
Game 2 Box
The second game saw all the scoring done in two innings. For the Chanticleers, they scored three runs in the third.
Forbes again led off the inning and got on board via a walk. She stole second and came around to score on a Mellen double off the right field wall.
CCU scored their final two runs just one batter later when Kassidy Smith stepped to the plate and delivered her 11th home run of the season, also scoring Mellen.
The visitors scored their two runs in the fifth inning as CCU starter Taylor Rahach got into some trouble.
Katie Mathewson led off the inning with a home run to cut the deficit to 3-1. The Mountaineers then got their second run on three walks and a single to cut the lead to one at 3-2. The final run came on a bases-loaded walk to Sidney Russell.
Guillette then came into the game in relief of Rahach and was able to finish the final 2.2 innings only allowing one hit and striking out four. She picked up her fourth save of the season.
The two teams will end the regular season tomorrow in the series finale. First pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m.
