CONWAY - Coastal Carolina softball head coach Kelley Green announced the addition of junior college infielder Kasey Oliver to its 2013 recruiting class on Friday.
Oliver signed a National Letter of Intent to join the Chanticleers following two years at Yavapai College in Prescott, Arizona. She has played in all 55 of Yavapai's games so far this season, helping the Roughriders to a 38-17 record entering the National Junior College Athletic Association playoffs.
During the regular season, Oliver led the team with 42 RBIs and tied for second on the squad with 53 hits and 37 runs scored. She batted .314 with six doubles, one triple and one home run and was successful on 17 of 19 stolen-base attempts. She was named the Arizona Community College Athletic Conference Division I Player of the Week on February 27.
"Kasey will be a great addition to our program," Green said. "She will add depth to our middle infield, as well as provide a spark to our lineup. Her experience playing for a premier junior college will be a huge asset and enable her impact to be felt immediately."
Yavapai has reached the NJCAA Region I playoffs each of the last six seasons and went 57-10 last year en route to winning the ACCAC championship.
A native of Chatham, Illinois, Oliver enjoyed a record-setting career at Glenwood High School. She became the school's career leader in RBIs with 139 and also established new single-season marks with 54 RBIs and seven home runs, while earning Player of the Year honors in her conference.
Oliver becomes the fourth member of Coastal's 2013 signing class, joining catcher/infielder Amanda Daneker, catcher/infielder Kylie Mulholland and pitcher Carolyn Szymanski.
