CONWAY - Sophomore Morgan Noad of the Coastal Carolina University softball team has been named to the Capital One Academic All-District 4 team as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America.
Noad carries a 3.53 GPA in biology and was selected as a designated player to the District 4 team, which includes players from from Division I institutions in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, South Carolina and Puerto Rico.
Noad is the 11th Coastal softball player to earn Academic All-District honors, the 12th selection for the program overall and the first since Ashley Frederick in 2010. She has earned Coastal Carolina's Dean's List honors for each of her first three semesters and was a member of the Big South Presidential Honor Roll last year.
On the field this season, Noad has started all 52 games and is second on the Chanticleer squad with 13 home runs (fourth in Big South), 46 RBIs (third in Big South) and slugging (.613), while batting .297 and sharing the team-high with eight doubles. Her 28 career homers put her fifth on the school's all-time list in less than two full seasons.
Noad will now go on to the Academic All-America® ballot, which will be announced May 22. To be eligible for Academic All-America consideration, a student-athlete must be a varsity starter or key reserve, maintain a cumulative G.P.A. of 3.30 on a scale of 4.00, have reached sophomore athletic and academic standings at his/her current institution and be nominated by his/her sports information director. Since the program's inception in 1952, CoSIDA has bestowed Academic All-America honors on more than 20,000 student-athletes in Divisions I, II, III and NAIA, covering all NCAA championship sports.
