CONWAY - For the second straight week and the fifth time this season, Kiana Quolas was selected the Big South Conference's Pitcher of the Week, the league announced on Monday.
Quolas notched victories in her only two appearances in the circle last week, going 2-0 with a 0.57 ERA over 12.1 innings. She tossed a complete-game five hitter against Liberty on Friday, allowing just one earned run and striking out five with just one walk. She then pitched 5.1 innings in relief on Saturday to help Coastal Carolina pull away to a key 9-5 victory. She didn't allow a run and limited the Flames to four hits, while striking out three and walking none.
Quolas finished the regular season with a 21-9 record and a Big South-leading 1.86 ERA. Currently, the next lowest in the conference is 2.48 by Campbell's Brittany Arnn. In Big South games, Quolas went 12-3 with a 1.46 ERA over 18 appearances.
The native of Oxnard, Calif., has already climbed to a tie for fifth on CCU's all-time victories list with 45 and is one win away from sharing third place with Vicki Dulaney and Lauren Yates. Her five weekly honors this season surpass the four she earned last year as a freshman.
