CONWAY - The Coastal Carolina softball team will wrap up its regular-season schedule with a key three-game series at Big South Conference rival Liberty this Friday and Saturday.
The teams will meet in a doubleheader on Friday, with the first game scheduled for 2 p.m., and then play a single game on Saturday at 1 p.m.
The Chanticleers (31-20) are in three-team battle for first place in the Big South. With a 16-5 conference mark, they trail Campbell (17-4) by just one game. Longwood, meanwhile, takes a 13-5 league record into a home series against Presbyterian, which also begins Friday. The Lancers then travel to Campbell for a season-ending three-game series next weekend.
Bri Chiusano takes an eight-game hitting streak into the Liberty series and is batting .440 with 13 runs scored and nine stolen bases since April 7. Kiana Quolas has hit safely in her last seven games and Morgan Noad has a .407 average with four home runs and nine RBIs over the last 10 games.
Liberty (19-30, 8-13 BSC) is on a nine-game losing streak, but four of the last five defeats have come by two runs or less. The Flames feature one of the nation's best base-stealers. Junior outfielder Katie Zavodny has swiped a school-record 40 bases on 48 attempts and ranks among the top 10 in the country in steals per game.
All three games of the series will be broadcast locally on 101.9 Fox FM and Fox Sports 1050 AM. They can also be heard nationally online on the Chanticleer Sports Network at GoCCUSports.com
