Chants Set To Host UNC Wilmington
The Coastal Carolina University softball team (17-26, 3-6 Big South) will step out of Big South Conference play for a doubleheader against UNC Wilmington Tuesday, April 19 at the CCU Softball Field. The first game is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m.

Scouting UNC Wilmington
The Seahawks enter Tuesday’s doubleheader coming off of a five-game losing streak and are currently 2-4 against Big South teams. Key players for UNC-Wilmington are sophomore shortstop Lauryn Buckworth and senior second baseman Caitlin Cavarra. Buckworth leads the team with a .298 batting average, three home runs and 14 RBI. Cavarra follows close behind with a .297 batting average and leads the Seahawks with 20 runs, 41 hits, eight doubles and a .390 on-base percentage. Ace pitchers for UNC Wilmington are junior Amanda Davenport and senior Amanda Aditays. Aditays has a 5-12 record, 18 game starts, 12 complete games, 112.2 innings pitched and 100 strikeouts. Davenport leads the pitchers with a 3.57 ERA and a .253 opponent batting average.
Series vs. UNC Wilmington
Currently, the Chanticleers are leading the overall series 57-21 and in the last meeting between the two teams on April 7, 2010, Coastal won both, 9-0 and 6-1.
Daigle Finds Sweet Spot
Sophomore Jazmin Daigle had a good weekend against the Highlanders despite the 0-3 record. Daigle went 4-for-9 with one double and one of the two RBI for the weekend. She finished with a .444 batting average and .556 slugging percentage.
Edwards Give Solid Performances in Relief
Senior Katelin Edwards had two solid relief appearances against Radford. She threw a total of 5.2 innings against the Highlanders, giving up only two hits while striking out three and holding the opposing batters to a .100 batting average.
Radford Sweeps Series Against Chants
Coastal recorded its first Big South Conference sweep as Radford won the games of the three-game series April 16-17. On Sunday, the Chanticleers played a doubleheader, falling 4-2 in game one and 8-1 in game two. In the top of the sixth inning of the first game, Coastal took a 2-1 lead, but a three-run homer put the Highlanders back on top. On Monday, Radford took the final game of the series 6-0.
Pineda Provides Game-Winner
In the final game of the three-game series against Charleston Southern, junior Chelsea Pineda ended the game in the bottom of the seventh with a three-run walk-off home run to give Coastal a 4-1 lead. Going into the seventh, the Chants were tied 1-1 with the Buccaneers.

Coastal hits the road, traveling to Presbyterian College of its final three-game Big South road series before the conference tournament. The Chants will play a doubleheader on Friday, April 22 with the first game starting at 2 p.m. and will finish the series on Saturday, April 23 at 12 p.m.
