Doyle Named Big South Pitcher of the Week

Freshman earns weekly honor for second time this season

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Coastal Carolina softball pitcher Christine Doyle (Teaneck, N.J.-Immaculate Heart Academy) was named Big South Softball Pitcher of the Week, Apr. 8. This is the second time she has garnered the award during her freshman campaign, having previously won it on Feb. 26.

Doyle was stellar last week, going 2-0 with a 0.00 ERA in her two appearances. Doyle shut out UNC Wilmington to open the week, going the distance with a one-hitter and striking out six. She then led CCU to a win in the opener at Charleston Southern, scattering seven hits and striking out three in the 5-0 victory over the host Bucs. For the year, Doyle is now 13-6 with a team-best 1.51 ERA in 134.1 innings pitched with 89 strikeouts and nearly a 3-to-1 strikeout-to-walk ratio.

Coastal Carolina is back on the field Thursday, Apr. 10, hosting the College of Charleston in a 4 p.m. doubleheader at Coastal Carolina Softball Field.
