CONWAY - For the first time since 2010, the Coastal Carolina softball team plays host to Radford for a Big South Conference series, beginning with a doubleheader Saturday at 1 p.m. at Carolina Forest High School.
The Chanticleers have won 10 of their last 12 games to improve their overall record to 22-13. They come in leading the Big South at 9-2. Radford enters just 12-19 overall, but is 5-2 in conference play, having won four its last five games.
The three-game series, which finishes with a single game on Sunday at 1 p.m., is a matchup between last year's Big South regular-season and tournament champions. Coastal won three of five meetings between the teams in 2012 - all at Radford - and eliminated the Highlanders from the tournament with back-to-back victories on its way to the title.
