Day #3 – March 25, 2011

Hey all, this is Jazz and Chelsea checking in with you on day three of our California adventure!

To start the day, many of our east coasters got to experience another west coast cuisine for lunch at Sweet Tomatoes, a soup and salad buffet, and of course they loved it! From there it was off to the field to get ready for some action.

The bus ride from Sweet Tomatoes was entertaining as Courtney told us all of her childhood dreams of becoming a meteorologist. In an effort to let her play out this dream, Ashley Bagwell recorded Courtney’s very own weather report where she explained to us that scattered showers would occur throughout the day. Believe it or not, Courtney turned out to be correct. The weather started out a little wet and dreary and the game before us between Stanford and Sacramento State had multiple delays, but that didn’t stop us fighting Chanticleers! Instead, we kept our heads up and kept hitting in the batting cages through the rain to get ready to take on the Stanford Cardinal.

The first game of the day started out a little rocky as the Cards took an early lead. We kept fighting, but couldn’t pull it off.  However, we did score two runs.

After a quick between game meal, game two preparations brought with them a LOT of energy. Whether it was the icy chill of the night that woke the team up or the energy from our Quizno’s subs, there was something that changed the atmosphere. Throughout our warm-ups, choruses of “ball, ball, ball, ball” in different tones could be heard coming from the mouths of Jazz, Pisone, Michelle, Nicole and Racquel in not quite perfect harmony to say the least. Unfortunately, our energy didn’t carry us to a win against the Pacific Tigers and we fell to 0-2 on the day.

So now we’re back at the hotel and under the covers of our cozy beds ready to get some sleep and come out with more energy and a winning attitude tomorrow morning!

Good night and sweet dreams. This is Jazz and Chelsea checking out from California.
