Day 2 - March 24, 2011
After a short sleep, we all woke up and went to have a nice little breakfast in the hotel. Afterwards, we packed our things and loaded back onto the bus en route to THE GOLDEN GATE BRIDGE! Unfortunately, the weather was NOT as we would have hoped, but we attempted to take a team picture in front of the bridge and we'll just wait to see how that one turned out.
Once we back on the bus and all accounted for, we made our way to Fisherman's Wharf. We spent the next two hours on Pier 39 visiting all the shops and attractions. Beth, Courtney, Brooke, Jessie and I (Ashley) ate lunch at Bubba Gump's. The restaurant had a great view of Alcatraz and the Golden Gate Bridge, which we're sure the view would have been 10 times better had the weather been more accommodating. We even got to see a sea lion!
To our surprise, we were treated to dessert in Ghirardelli Square. We each got our choice of an ice cream cone or to split a sundae in the Ghirardelli Ice Cream Shop. Jessie visited a cup cake shop, Kara's Cupcakes as seen on the Food Network, and it had a wide variety of cupcakes; Jessie says that banana is the best!
Next, we traveled to Union Square to do some more shopping, because you know us girls, we love shopping. The square was filled with many different stores, some very high end such as the Armani Exchange and the Ferrari store, to some more realistic stores like H&M and Nike Town.
Once our time in South San Francisco was over, we headed to our hotel near Stanford to get ready for dinner. While some of the girls enjoyed spending the time to go to dinner with their parents, the rest of us went out together to Pedro's, which is a very good Mexican restaurant in the area.
After a long day and some unpleasant weather, we're all glad to be warm and dry lying in our sleep number beds as we prepare for our first game tomorrow against tournament host Stanford at 2:30 p.m. (PT).
-Ta ta for now!
