Day #1 - March 23, 2011
Sarah and Katelin here, reporting from Delta Airlines, roughly 30,000 feet up in the air at 11 p.m. (ET).
Today has been quite a long and exciting day, and we still haven’t made it to our final destination. Our San Francisco trip began around 3:00 p.m. (ET) Wednesday, March 23 when we waved goodbye to Coastal and set out on our west coast adventure. With 27 girls checking in at the airport and the anticipation of whether or not each of our bags would be under the 50 pound limit was quite the event. Thankfully, all bags made it through. Once we were all checked in and waiting to board the plane, there was a lot of hackey and words with friends (we all seem to be addicted).
For Courtney Howell and I (Katelin), it was our first flight EVER, so flying out of Myrtle Beach into Atlanta on the tiny plane was quite an experience, but I think us rookies handled it better than some of the frequent flyers on our team!
By the time we reached Atlanta (after the many delays) it was around 7:00 pm (ET), and thankfully our connection to San Francisco was delayed so we didn’t have to have a sprint session through the airport.
Once we got to our gate, we all grabbed some yummy snacks in Atlanta to pass the time. As we boarded our plane to San Francisco, the pilot even gave us each our own set of wings!
At 12:30 a.m. (PT), we finally got to our hotel, but we are all extremely tired since we are still on east coast time and it feels like 3:30 a.m. (ET).
The team is so excited to have finally reached San Francisco and we are all eager to begin our trip! Coastal Softball is ready to conquer the west coast!
Check back tomorrow as we will recap day two of our west coast adventure!
