East Tennessee State held a 1-0 lead in the top of the second inning. After Katie Henderson reached first on a Coastal error, Caitlin Zyskowski made it to first as she laid down a bunt, which moved Henderson to second. The scored remained 1-0 until East Tennessee State scored four runs in the fifth inning. While Cheniece Cason lined out to sophomore Laicole Walker (Wichita, Kan./Wichita Collegiate School), Kate Powell had a double down the left field. Powell would score off a Katy Jett double to left field to make it a 2-0 game. A Trisha Massenzo fly ball to junior right fielder Kelsey Riffel (Maize, Kan./Maize) allowed Jett to advance to third. Jessica Hackworth would walk and then stole second, setting up runners in scoring position for Henderson, who hit a three-run home run to left field to give East Tennessee State the 5-0 lead.
