CONWAY - The Coastal Carolina softball team plays its first home game of the season Thursday night at 7:30 p.m. as it hosts Rhode Island in the opening game of the Kickin' Chicken Classic.
Due to forecasted inclement weather, several changes have been made to Friday's game schedule. Rhode Island and Loyola Chicago will play in Friday's first game, with first pitch now set for 9:30 a.m. Coastal will then face Rhode Island for a second time, beginning at 11:30 a.m. The Chants and Loyola will play the final game of the day at 1:30 p.m. All of the games will still be played at Carolina Forest High School.
The schedule for Saturday and Sunday will be determined as soon as possible based on the weather. For updates, check back at www.GoCCUSports.com or follow the Coastal Carolina Department of Athletics on Twitter at @GoCCUSports.
Rhode Island and Loyola Chicago will be playing their first games of the season. Rhode Island went 21-32-1 last year and finished 10th in the Atlantic 10. Loyola Chicago was runner-up in the Horizon League in 2012 and was the preseason pick to win the conference this season.
