TROY, AL - The Coastal Carolina Chanticleers (22-22, 5-12 SBC) snapped their five-game win streak as they dropped a pair of games on Friday afternoon at Troy (26-17, 10-7 SBC) and the Troy Softball Complex as they fell to the Trojans by the scores of 1-0 and 4-1.

Game One

The only run in the game in came when Troy designated player, Erica Davis doubled down the left field line and then moved over to third base a on sacrifice bunt by Hope Hernandez. Next batter, Taylor Corbett hit a ground ball to junior shortstop Alexis Alvino, but the junior Chanticleer misplayed it, allowing Davis to score from third.

The biggest threat of the game for the Chanticleers came in the top of the sixth as leadoff batter Kassidy Smith singled and then pinch runner, Payton Hanson moved over on a sacrifice bunt by Alvino but Trojan starter Annie Willis worked her way out of the jam not giving up a run. Willis was able to retire the next two Chant batters to end the inning.

Willis threw a seven-inning complete game shutout, allowing just three hits.

Coastal Carolina starter Ashley Guillette was just as good as the junior pitched a complete game, allowing one run on just two hits.

Game Two

Troy used two, two-run innings that propelled them past Coastal in game two, 4-1.

In the bottom of the second, Erica Davis started it off with a walk and came around to score on a Kaitlin Beasley-Polko wild pitch. Troy's second run came as Logan Calhoun knocked a single into right field to bring home Hope Hernandez.

After Taylor Corbett singled and Logan Calhoun walked, Madeline Porter doubled in both runners to give Troy a 4-0 lead after four.

Coastal cut into Troy's lead in the top of the seventh as freshman Samantha Sack led off the inning with a single through the right side. After freshman Stavi Augur and Taylor Sweigart reached base, Kassidy Smith then cut into the Trojan lead with a deep sacrifice fly to center field.

That's all that Troy starter Peyton Glover would need as the right-hander allowed just four hits on the night.
