The Chanticleers Fall to the Jaguars in Game 3, 6-1
Mobile, Ala. - The Coastal Carolina softball team dropped a 6-1 decision to South Alabama Sunday afternoon in Mobile, dropping its second Sun Belt series.
The Chanticleers, with the loss fall, to 21-7 overall and 1-4 in the Sun Belt, while the Jaguars improved to 19-8, 2-4.
Ashley Guillette (6-3) worked 3.2 innings allowing two runs, giving up six hits, walking seven while striking out two of the USA batters. Devin Brown (9-4) of South Alabama pitched a complete game allowing one run, seven hits, walking three and striking out three.
Taty Forbes, who was 4-4 on the day, scored the lone run for the Chants in the fifth inning. Forbes hit a one out single to center and advanced to second on a ground out by Alexis Alvino. Amanda Daneker followed with a single to left, moving to second on the throw home trying to get Forbes, cutting the USA lead 2-1.
The South Alabama scored four runs off five hits in their final at bats leading to the final tally of 6-1.
The Chants will travel to Charleston Southern, March 22, for a midweek game before returning to CCU Softball Stadium to take on Sun Belt foe Troy, March 25-26.
