Coastal Carolina Splits Doubleheader with South Alabama
Mobile, Ala. - The Coastal Carolina softball team splits a doubleheader at South Alabama Saturday afternoon as the Chanticleers dropped game one 6-0 before getting a 2-0 decision in the second contest.
Game 1; CCU 0, USA 6
The Jaguars only needed the 2-run home run they got in the first inning to earn the victory, but ended up adding four more runs on the nine hits in the game.
South Alabama's Devin Brown (8-4) held the Chants offense in check by allowing two hits.
Game 2; CCU 2, USA 0
Ashley Guillette (6-2) pitched seven innings allowing three hits, four walks and struck out 10 USA batters, earning the Chanticleers a split.
CCU got on the board in the second inning scoring twice on two hits and along with two Jaguar miscues. Adrianna Toro reached on the first South Alabama error and advanced to second when Chelsea D'Avilar reached via a walk. Angela Buccilli loaded the bases with a single to center. Taty Forbes then singled home Toro and the second miscue by USA allowed D'Avilar to score what would be the final tally for Coastal.
Guillette worked the final three frames getting seven of her 10 strikeouts.
