MYRTLE BEACH - Morgan Noad hit a grand slam for the second straight day as the Coastal Carolina softball team rolled to an 8-0 victory over Albany Saturday afternoon in the Coastal Carolina Invitational. The Chanticleers fell to Wichita State 5-2 in their second game of the day.

The Chants (8-10) totaled five home runs on Saturday, including one in each game by Kory Hayden. Kiana Quolas and Sara Rasley also homered.

Coastal avenged its loss to Albany on Friday as Quolas (4-4) held an opponent off the scoreboard for the second straight game and won her third straight decision. She scattered four hits in 5 2-3 innings while striking out five and walking two. Morgan Mastriania completed the shutout, allowing one hit and striking out one.

Hayden's first homer of the day was a two-run shot to left field in the top of the third just after a line-drive single by Quolas.

The Chants then broke the game open in the sixth with a five-run inning, capped by Noad's second slam in three games and fourth homer of the season. An RBI single by Cacia Pierre scored pinchrunner Courtney Howell to make it 3-0. Jazmin Daigle followed with a single and Brooke Donovan walked to load the bases for Noad, who hit a 1-2 pitch over the fence in left-center.

Quolas then led off the seventh with her third home run of the year, capping a 3-for-4 performance at the plate. Hayden and Pierre each added two hits as Coastal totaled nine in the game.

Wichita State (9-8) improved to 4-0 in the tournament with its win in the nightcap. The Shockers scored three runs in the third inning on three hits and an error, before adding single runs in the fifth and sixth to lead 5-0.

Hayden hit a one-out homer in the bottom of the sixth, now has six on the season and finished with two hits in the game. Rasley added her first home run of the year in the seventh. Coastal upped its home run total for the season to 20.

Ashley Bagwell (4-4) pitched into the sixth, allowing two earned runs on seven hits. She struck out five and walked two.

The Chanticleers wrap up play in the tournament Sunday with a 1 p.m. game against Western Carolina.
