CONWAY - The Coastal Carolina women's soccer team has received the National Soccer Coaches Association of America Team Academic Award for the 2011-12 academic year.

It marks the 12th consecutive year that Coastal has earned the honor, which requires teams to have an overall grade point average of 3.0 or higher for the calendar year. Coastal was one of 504 women's teams honored this year, including a total of 10 from the Big South Conference.

Leading the way to this year's award for the Chanticleers were senior Anna Lowe and sophomore Maddie Phillips. With a 3.97 GPA as a marine science major, Lowe was named a CoSIDA Academic All-District selection in addition to being named to the Big South's All-Academic Team. Phillips posted a 4.0 GPA as a marketing major.

Along with once again excelling in the classroom, Coastal has a successful season on the field as well, improving from two wins the prior season to 10 wins in 2012.
