Women's Soccer Garner Three All- BSC Honors

CHARLESTON, S.C. — Sophomore keeper Candice Doten was selected First Team Big South All-Conference on Wednesday evening at the League's annual women's soccer awards banquet. Coastal's Leah Barrett and Marissa Kovacs each garnered Second Team All-Conference honors, while Doten was also selected to the All-Academic squad.

Doten has led the Lady Chanticleers defense with a school record 104 saves this season, ranking her second in the Big South. Kovacs, the 2000 Big South Conference Rookie of the Year and First Team All-Conference selection, has one goal and two assists this season from her defensive position. Barrett leads the team in scoring this season with five goals and five assists.

The award's banquet serves as the kickoff for the 2001 Women's Soccer Championship, which will begin on Thursday at Blackbaud Stadium on Daniel Island. The fifth seeded Lady Chanticleers will play the fourth seeded Radford Highlanders in the tournament opener at 2:00 p.m.
