CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Seven members of the Coastal Carolina women's soccer team garnered honors from the Big South Conference Monday, as the league announced its 2013 season awards.

Junior defender Rylie Johnson and sophomore midfielder Fia Jonsson were named to the All-Big South first team. Senior defender Alyssa Clark and junior forward Kacey Kelley were second-team selections. Midfielder Sam Patterson and forward Brianna Panico both were tabbed on the All-Freshman team. Additionally, junior Maddie Phillips earned All-Academic team honors.

Coastal had the second-most selections of any team behind Radford, which totaled eight, and the Chants' four combined first and second-team honors tied with the Highlanders and Liberty for most in the conference.

Johnson earned her first career conference honor after moving to centerback this season and helping anchor the Chants' defense that set school records with 11 shutouts and just 15 goals allowed, including only seven in conference play. Despite missing four games due to injury, Johnson ranked third among field players on the team in minutes played, logging at least 90 in 12 contests.

Jonsson notched her second all-conference selection in two seasons at Coastal. A second-team selection last season, she missed the team's first four games this year, but was still second on the team with five goals, while recording two assists to stand third on the team in points with 12. She scored goals in three straight games upon returning to the lineup.

Clark earned her second career All-Big South selection after also garnering second-team honors as a defender in 2011. She started all 20 games this season on the Chants' backline, helping lead the way to the team's defensive records for shutouts and fewest goals allowed. She led all Coastal field players in minutes, tallying at least 90 in 11 matches.

Kelley also claimed All-Big South honors for the second time, following her first-team pick last season. Despite being hampered early in the season by injury, Kelley still played in 19 of the team's 20 games, dished out a team-high five assists. She was tied for second on the squad with five goals and shared the team-lead with 15 points.

Panico and Patterson both made immediate impacts for the Chants in their first seasons, each playing in all 20 games. Panico scored a team-high six goals and added three assists to share the team-high with 15 points. She was one of four Coastal players to notch two game-winning goals. Patterson contributed offensively and defensively, starting 18 of the team 20 games mostly in the midfield. She ranked fourth among field players in minutes played and tallied two goals - including the game-winner against first-place Radford - along with one assist.

Phillips earned All-Academic honors while carrying a 3.926 GPA as a marketing major. In her first four semesters at Coastal, she has been named to the President's List three times and the Dean's List in the other, while being a two-time selection to the Big South Presidential Honor Roll. On the field, Phillips started all 20 games and ranked second on the team in minutes, spending time on defense and in the midfield. She recorded four assists to rank second on the team.

Coastal now has 25 All-Big South first-team selections and 23 second-team honors in the 14-year history of the program.
