Three Chanticleers Earn All-Conference Honors

- Anna Tupy, Kate Wilkinson, and Colleen Schohl of the Coastal Carolina women’s soccer team have been selected to Big South All-Conference teams, as announced by the League office on Wednesda
y, Nov. 3.

Tupy earned first team All-Conference honors for her outstanding play in the midfield this season.  The senior, who
finished as the runner-up for the Big South Player of the Year award, has led the Chanticleers in every offensive category this season and will finish her career in the top five in several offensive categories in the Coastal Carolina record books.  Tupy finished the regular season with five goals, three assists, 13 points, 42 shots, and 24 shots on goal.  Of Tupy’s five goals three were game winners, with the most critical coming in the 2-1 victory of then first place Charleston Southern.  This is the third consecutive season Tupy has been honored by the Big South; earning second team and all-tournament honors in 2008 along with first team honors in 2009.  She currently ranks fifth in Chanticleer history with 15 career goals and fifth in points with 39.  

Making an immediate impact on the field during her freshman campaign, Wilkinson was named a second team All-Conference and All-Freshman team member.  Wilkinson netted four goals from her outside forward position this season while assisting on two others.  The Calgary, Alberta native recorded 29 shots with 16 being on goal and recorded one game winner this season.  Wilkinson had a career game against Charleston Southern on Oct. 22 as she fired four strikes with three being on frame while recording the game tying goal and assisting on the game winner.  

A native of Brecksville, Ohio, Schohl, a finance major, has been named to the Big South All-Academic team after a standout season on the pitch for the Chanticleers. The senior, has one goal this season, the first of her career; from her defensive midfield position as she helped lead the Chanticleers to a share of the Big South regular season championship. Schohl, who was also named to the ESPN District III All-Academic first team, anchors the defensive back line that has posted six shutouts this season with four coming during conference play and has shut down every attacking player sent her way.  She is a member of the Coastal Carolina chapters of Beta Gamma Sigma, Phi Eta Sigma, Golden Key honor societies. She boosts a 3.92 GPA as a member of the Wall Fellows Honors Leadership and Corporate Development Program and is a three time member of the Big South Presidential Honor Roll. Schohl has made Coastal Carolina’s honor roll every semester with three President’s List honors and three Dean’s List honors.

The Chanticleers finished the regular season with 10-7-2 (6-2-1, Big South) record as the team claimed a share of the Big South regular season championship.  Coastal will enter the Big South Tournament as the third seed on Thursday, Nov. 4 as they match up against the sixth seeded Liberty Flames.  Coastal defeated Liberty by a 1-0 final during the regular season.
