CHARLOTTE, N.C.- Coastal Carolina goalkeeper Amy Haggard has been tabbed the Big South Conference Choice Hotels Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week for games played October 25-31, as announced on Nov. 2 by the League office.
Haggard made 15 saves and turned in back-to-back shutouts last week, to help the Chanticleers earn a share of the Big South Conference Regular Season title. In the 0-0 tie at Gardner-Webb, Haggard made career-high nine saves. She then followed with six saves in the 1-0 win at Winthrop. The senior ranks first in the Coastal Carolina record book with 22 career shutouts, and posted a .846 save percentage and 0.51 GAA this season.
Haggard and the Chanticleers are preparing to take part in the Big South Championship in Radford, Va., starting on Nov. 4. Coastal will be the third seed in the tournament and will face sixth seeded Liberty at 4:30 p.m. in the opening round.
