Women's Soccer Celebrates Senior Night with 5-0 Win over Radford

More Information:

CONWAY, S.C. –The Coastal Carolina University women’s soccer team (13-4, 5-2 Big South) recorded its fifth shutout of the season and sent its four seniors out on a high note in its last Big South home match with a 5-0 win over Radford University (5-11, 2-5 Big South) Oct. 22 in Conway, S.C.

Coastal and Radford were deadlocked for most of the first half until one of CCU’s seniors took over. Kristina Fisher (Landenberg, Pa./Avon Grove) scored on a header off a great cross from classmate Rachel Devine (Downingtown, Pa./Downingtown) at 37:50. Fisher would then come back just over two minutes later and scored an unassisted goal from 18 yards out to give the Lady Chants a 2-0 advantage. It was Fisher’s 10th goal of the season, becoming the third Coastal player to reach double digits in goals.

Coastal outshot Radford 13-2 in the first half. Radford’s Annaliese Yoder had two saves, while junior Jaclyn Stoll (Fairfax Station, Va./Hayfield Secondary) did not see a shot on goal by the Highlanders in the first 45 minutes.

Coastal kept the attack going in the second half. Freshman Blair Monroe (Little River, S.C./North Myrtle Beach) beat Yoder right for her conference-leading 16th goal of the season at 47:27. Senior Bobbie Parsons (Portugal Cove, Newfoundland/Prince of Wales) then got into the act on Senior Night, scoring two goals in the last 3:05. Her 15-yard shot at 86:55 beat Yoder right as Devine had her second assist of the match. Parsons then collected a great pass from sophomore Sara Moore (Birmingham, Mich./Seaholm (Bowling Green)), hit the post with her first shot but rebounded the shot into the open net at 88:19.

The Lady Chants outshot Radford 21-9 and had a 6-3 corner-kick advantage. Stoll had two saves for her 13th win of the season. Yoder had five saves for Radford.

Parsons led Coastal with 10 shots, followed by Fisher‘s four. Lisa Channon, Laura Culver and Brianna Kipper each had two shots for Radford.

Coastal now has 50 goals on the season and had scored five or more goals in four of its last seven games.

Before the game, Coastal honored Parsons, Fisher, Devine and Alissa Wulf (Bay Village, Ohio/Bay) as they were competing in their last home Big South game.

Coastal travels to Lynchburg, Va., to face Liberty University Saturday, Oct. 29, at 7 p.m. Radford hosts Virginia Tech Wednesday, Oct. 26, at 7 p.m.
