Coastals Leah Barrett netted CCUs lone goal only 24 minutes into the match when she connected on a loose ball in front of the Cougars net, marking her second goal of 2003.
The Lady Chants held the 1-0 advantage until the 70th minute when College of Charlestons Crystal Petroccoro netted the equalizer in what would turn out to be the last score of the match.
CCU outshot the Cougars 17-13 and was led by Barrett and Bobbie Parsons with four shots apiece. Christina Hobgood tried for a team-high three shots for College of Charleston.
Alice Keeney played the entire 110 minutes for the Cougars and tallied five saves. Candice Doten was in the net for the first 45 minutes for the Lady Chants, during which she recorded one save, and Jaclyn Stoll took over at the half for the remainder of the match, grabbing two more saves.
Coastal womens soccer is at home twice more this week as they take on Big South foe Radford, Friday, Oct. 24, at 7 p.m. and conference rival High Point in the last home game of the season, Sunday, Oct. 26, at 1 p.m.
