CONWAY - The Coastal Carolina women's soccer team returns home on Tuesday, Oct. 18 to take on Big South foe Charleston Southern after playing its last two matches on the road. Match time is set for 6 p.m.
The Chanticleers have won two, both via shutout, of their last three games with the lone setback coming by way of a 2-1 decision at Presbyterian College. During the stretch Coastal outscored its opponent by a 5-2 margin, including a 3-0 victory over VMI. Additionally, the Chants have outshot their opponents by a 50-26 margin that includes 19-12 edge in shots on goal.
Coastal's nine goals this season have come from the foot of eight different players with only sophomore Christina Stern scoring more than once. Cami Skladany, Kacey Kelley and Rylie Johnson have each found the net for the first goal of their careers this season.
Defensively, the Chanticleers have held five of their six conference opponents under their season goals per game average and all six under their respective shots per game average.
Last season the Chanticleers defeated Charleston Southern 2-1 at Blackbaud Stadium, the site of the 2011 Big South Tournament, to hand the then top-seeded Buccaneers their first Big South Conference loss. The win was the third for the Chanticleers in 13 tries against their low-state rival and first since the 2005 campaign.
Charleston Southern enters Tuesday's game coming off a 5-0 drubbing at the hands of UNC Asheville. The Buccaneers have scored 19 goals this season with sophomore forward Toni Lashley accounting for seven. Goalkeepers Caitlin Cody and Amy Arroyo have spilt time in goal this season producing a combined 62 saves and three shutouts.
