Women's Soccer's Gentile Named Big South Player of the Week

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (BigSouthSports.com) – Coastal Carolina senior forward Dana Gentile (Utica, N.Y.) has been selected as the Big South Conference Choice Hotels Women’s Soccer Player of the Week for games played Oct. 6-12, it was announced today by the League office.

Gentile stepped up in a major way as the Chanticleers defeated two unbeaten Big South opponents last week. On Saturday, Gentile found the back of the net twice in Coastal’s 3-0 win over VMI. The Keydets came into the match 2-0 in the Big South and shut out its first two League foes. On Monday, Gentile scored the only goal in a 1-0 victory over unbeaten Radford in a matchup of the preseason No. 1 and 2. She scored on a rebound effort for her seventh goal of the season and second game-winner on the year.

Also nominated for women’s soccer Player of the Week for Week 8: Lindsey Trexler (Charleston Southern), Maria Owen (Liberty) and Mary Wiley (Radford).
