CONWAY- The Coastal Carolina women's soccer team will take a brief break from Big South Conference play as they welcome in Francis Marion on Wednesday for a 6:30 p.m. kick off.
The match-up will be the final non-conference game for the Chants who have posted a 4-5-0 record in the previous nine out of conference games this season.
Coastal (6-7-0, 2-2-0 Big South) currently sits third in the Big South Conference standings having defeated Liberty and VMI 1-0 and 2-1 respectively.
Coastal will be looking to rebound from a 2-0 set back at the hands of Radford on Oct. 10. In the loss, sophomore goal keeper Jessica Barton faced 18 shots and recorded a career high eight saves. Senior Anna Tupy recorded a season high seven shot in the contest.
Tupy leads the Chants through 13 games this season with three goals and seven points. Hannah Brown and Ashley Day join Tupy as the only multi-goal scorers on the season with two each. Coastal holds a 51-43 edge in corner kick over all opponents this season with nine coming in the games against VMI and Radford.
Francis Marion (3-11-1) holds a 3-0 all-time series lead over the Chanticleers. The Patriots won the last meeting of the two schools 1-0 in overtime on Oct. 27, 2008. Francis Marion has scored 15 goals on the season while allowing 39. Yasmin Bunter leads the Patriot attack with five goal and 11 points through 15 games this season.
The contest will be Francis Marion's fifth game facing a Big South Conference member going 0-4 through the first four matches and being out scored 6-1.
