After a scoreless first half, Coastal got on the board in the 64th minute, as forward Bobbie Parsons got in on a breakaway and scored to give CCU a 1-0 lead. Coastal got the eventual gamewinner just over two minutes later from Leah Barrett, as she got her first goal this season on feeds from Kristina Fisher and Bobbie Parsons. Parsons then scored in the 71st minute to pad the lead to 3-0 before the Panthers' Christy Dettmer scored in the 74th minute for the final 3-1 margin.
Parsons was the offensive star for the Lady Chanticleers, with her two goals and assisting on the third. Her eighth and ninth goals are a new school record for a single-season, breaking the previous record set by senior Tiffany Turner in the 2000 season. Parsons also now trails Kristin Wisse for the single-season scoring record set in 2000 by one point, as Parsons now has 23 this year.
Coastal outshot the Panthers 17-5 in the contests. Andria Gray had nine saves for Birmingham-Southern, while Candice Doten posted two saves in running her record to 6-4-0 this year.
Coastal's eighth win of the year tied the most in the four-year history of the program, set last season. The Lady Chants will go for number nine, Monday, Oct. 13 as they host UNC Wilmington at 7 p.m.
