Coastal Carolinas Bobbie Parsons (Portugal Cove, Newfoundland- Prince of Wales) was selected Tuesday, October 5, by the Big South Conference as the Womens Soccer Player of the Week for the week ending Oct.3.
The junior forward had her first career hat trick in Coastals 5-0 win over VMI, Oct. 2. Parsons now has seven goals on the season and 22 for her career. Parsons scored her first goal of the game off a pass from Laura Weiler (Lexington, KY-Lexington Catholic) to give CCU a 2-0 lead. Parsons tallied two more goals in the second half, including one with five seconds remaining, to help the Lady Chants to their first Big South win of the season.
This is the second time Parsons has been honored as the Womens Soccer Player of the Week by the Big South Conference this season. She previously captured the award for the week ending Sept. 12 by notching a goal in each of the three games the Lady Chants played that week. For her efforts that weekend she was also named to the UNCG/adidas Classic All-Tournament Team.
CCU will next take the pitch on Saturday, Oct 9, as they travel to Radford, Va. to take on the Highlanders at 2 p.m in a Big South Conference matchup.
