Rylee Atteberry Takes Third Sun Belt Defensive Award
NEW ORLEANS, La. - Freshman goalkeeper Rylee Atteberry has been named Sun Belt Defensive Player of the Week for the games played Sept. 29 and Oct. 1, the conference announced Tuesday. The weekly award is Atteberry’s third on the season.
Atteberry recorded back-to-back clean sheets; a 3-0 victory over Louisiana and 0-0 double overtime tie with Little Rock.
In the match against the Ragin Cajuns, Atteberry only saw two shots on goal saving both. Against the Trojans, the Aurora, Colo. native stopped six shots, two in the overtime periods, to maintain the scoreless tie.
On the season, Atteberry leads the Sun Belt with five shutouts and is ranked 28th nationally.
The Chanticleers return to action, on Thursday, Oct. 5, to take on Georgia State at the CCU Soccer Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 6:00 p.m.
