CONWAY, S.C. The Coastal Carolina University women's soccer team fell to UNC Wilmington Tuesday night at the CCU Soccer Stadium, 2-0, as Kristine Mengle netted a pair of goals for the visitors.
After controlling a scoreless first half, the Lady Seahawks finally broke through just five minutes into the new period, as Mengle got behind the defense and scored on a breakaway off an assist from Traci Broadwell. The Lady Chanticleers were able to put together several offensive threats in the middle of the second half, but Mengle iced it in the 83rd minute on virtually the same play, this time taking the long ball from Ashley Andringa.
With the loss, CCU's drops to 0-5-1, while UNCW improves to 3-4. The Lady Chants resume play this Saturday, Sept 29, as they travel to face Big South foe Liberty.
