The Coastal Carolina women’s soccer team fell to Elon 3-1 in their second and final game at the UNC Wilmington Hilton Garden Inn Invitational. The Chants (2-4-0) finished runner-up in the invitational after besting the host Seahawks 3-2 on Friday.
ROAD WARRIORS
Coastal Carolina stays on the road again this week with a trip to Boone, N.C to take on the Mountaineers of Appalachian State. All of the Chants games thus far have been at their opponents or at a neutral site. The Chanticleers will not open their home season until October 2 against High Point.

UNCW HILTON GARDEN INN INVITATIONAL
The Chanticleers finished second in the UNCW Hilton Garden Inn Invitational after defeating host school UNCW 3-2 and a loss 1-3 to Elon. Senior Anna Tupy and freshman Chelsea Strange earned all-tournament team nods.
YOUTH MOVEMENT
The Chanticleer freshmen class has made an impact in their first six collegiate contests. Four freshmen (Hannah Brown, Christina Stern, Alyssa Clark, and Kate Wilkinson) have appeared in all six matches for the Chants accounting for half of Coastal shots on the season. The freshmen class has also accounted for 18 of Coastal 37 shots on goal this season.
CLIMBING THE CHARTS
Senior Anna Tupy has recorded two goals on the season (CofC, Elon) upping her career goal tally to 12; thus, moving her into a tie for eighth with Emily McColl (2004-08) on the Chanticleers all-time career goals list. Tupy’s five points on the season (two goals, one assist) moves her into sole possession of ninth on Coastal’s all-time points list with a total of 33.
COASTAL THIRD IN PRESEASON POLL
Coastal Carolina team was picked to finish third in the Big South Conference annual preseason poll, as voted on by the league’s head women’s soccer coaches.

Coastal will return to action on Friday, September 17 as they take on in state rival Clemson in another non-conference road game. This will be the Chanticleers second game against an Atlantic Coast Conference member. Kick off for the match is set for 7 p.m.
