Parsons goal, the first of the game and her second of the season, was an unassisted effort in the 55th minute of play. Hajek scored 14 minutes later, also unassisted, off a loose ball in the box. The Lady Chants outshot the Phoenix, 21-12, and doubled Elons shots on goal with 12.
Senior goalkeeper Candice Doten, who was named Defensive MVP of the LSU Tournament in which Coastal participated, tallied six saves in 90 minutes of play and captured the shutout, while Elon keeper Kara Zagol grabbed eight of her own. The Phoenix drop to 0-2 with the loss.
Next up for the Lady Chants is their first home game of the 2003 season, Friday at 7:30 p.m. versus Anderson at Coastal Carolina Soccer Field.
