CHARLOTTE, N.C. Coastal Carolina sophomore Blair Monroe (Little River, S.C./North Myrtle Beach) has been named the Big South Conference Choice Hotels Womens Soccer Player of the Week, the conference office announced today (Aug. 29). Monroe earns Player of the Week honors for the third time in her career.
Monroe scored three goals in two games this past weekend as the Lady Chanticleers went 1-1 to start the season. She scored two goals in the second half in helping CCU to a 5-1 win in the season opener over West Georgia Aug. 25. She then scored Coastals lone goal in the first half of a 4-1 loss to George Mason Aug. 27. Monroe now has 20 goals in her young Coastal career, tying her with Kristina Fisher for second all-time on the CCU goals list.
Monroe earned Big South Player of the Week honors on Sept. 13 and Oct. 4, 2005, and was selected the Big South Freshman of the Year last season.
Coastal hosts the College of Charleston Thursday, Aug. 31, at 6 p.m.
