CONWAY, S.C. - Coastal Carolina University assistant women's soccer coach Tracey Leipold has accepted the head coaching position at LeMoyne College in Syracuse, N.Y., it was announced July 30. Leipold returns to her alma mater after coaching three seasons with the Chanticleers.
Leipold helped the Chanticleer goalkeepers to seven shutouts and a 1.50 goals-against average in 2008. Amy Haggard had five shutouts and a 1.44 goals-against average, upping her career total to 14 clean sheets. Leipold also helped in the recruiting of Big South All-Freshman Team selection Marissa Terry.
Leipold guided Coastal Carolina to 12 shutouts and a 0.98 goals-against average in net in 2007. She also coached Haggard, who had nine of those shutouts and was named to the Big South All-Freshman Team. Leipold helped recruit three players that were named to the Big South All-Freshman Team (Haggard, Anna Tupy and Sara Niles). Leipold helped the Coastal Carolina goalkeepers to a 1.43 goals-against-average in 2006, including five shutouts by Jaclyn Stoll. She also helped garner the 2007 recruiting class that was ranked the best in the Big South by Soccerbuzz.com.
Leipold returns to LeMoyne after earning a Bachelor of Science degree in psychology in 1995 and was a four-year starter from 1991-94 at goalkeeper. She anchored a defense that won 48 games in her four years, including a school record 12 in both 1992 and 1993. She returns to head coaching after guiding the Lees-McRae team from 2001-05.
