The Lady Chanticleers kick off the 2004 season with three home matches, beginning with a match against Wofford, Friday, Aug. 27, at 4 p.m. Following that CCU hosts North Carolina State, Aug. 29 at 1 p.m., and Western Carolina, Aug. 31, at 4 p.m.
Two regular-season tournaments also highlight Coastals schedule. The first is the Charleston Southern Tournament, in which the Lady Chants take on Maine, Sept. 3, and former Big South foe Campbell, Sept. 4. Only a week later, CCU travels to Greensboro, N.C. for the UNC Greensboro Tournament, facing the host Spartans, Sept. 10, and Old Dominion, Sept. 12.
Big South Conference play kicks off for Coastal Saturday, Sept. 18, as UNC Asheville visits CCU Soccer Field for a 2 p.m., match. Liberty, VMI, and Winthrop will also travel to Conway for conference play, and Coastal wraps up the regular season with two Big South road games at Birmingham-Southern, Oct. 24, and High Point, Oct. 30. The 2004 Big South Womens Soccer Tournament then takes place Nov. 4-6 in Charleston, S.C.
The 2004 schedule will be very challenging but more consistent in terms of talent, Miller stated. I do feel this schedule will prepare us for the Big South Tournament.
The 2003 squad, in Coastals fourth season of womens soccer, went 10-9-2, earning the most single-season wins in program history. The Lady Chants also made their mark by tying for the regular season conference title for the first time.
