The Coastal Carolina University womens soccer program, led by head coach Karrie Miller, released its 2005 schedule today (June 21) that includes 10 home games, a home in-season tournament in early September and a full slate of Big South Conference contests.
The Lady Chanticleers open the season Friday, August 26, against Elon College at 6 p.m., at the CCU Soccer Field. Coastal will have its first three games at home, as it hosts the Big South Challenge Sept. 2-4. The Lady Chants host Army Friday, Sept. 2 at 7:30 p.m. and face Chattanooga Sunday, Sept. 4 at 3 p.m. Coastal makes its first road trip of the year Sept. 9-11 at the Jacksonville Invitational in Jacksonville, Fla. Coastal faces Stetson Friday, Sept. 9 at 2 p.m. and the host Dolphins Sept. 11 at 1 p.m.
After a home match against Georgia Southern Thursday Sept. 15 at 4 p.m., the Lady Chants open the Big South schedule Sunday, Sept. 18 against 2004 regular-season champion UNC Asheville at 2 p.m. Coastal then opens the home portion of the conference slate Sunday, Sept. 25 against High Point at 2:30 p.m.
Coastal faces the defending Big South Tournament champions Birmingham-Southern Sunday, Oct. 16 at 1 p.m., in Conway and has Parents and Senior Day Saturday, Oct. 22 against Radford at 7 p.m. The last home match will be Monday, Oct. 31, against Converse at 6 p.m., before CCU plays in the Big South Tournament Nov. 3-6 in Rock Hill, S.C.
Coastal returns eight starters and 12 letterwinners to the 2005 squad, including 10 of its top 12 point leaders from last season.
