May 10, 2017

CONWAY - Coastal Carolina has named H.B. Lockwood assistant women’s soccer coach, it was announced today by Chanticleer head coach Paul Hogan.

Lockwood, who will serve as Coastal’s goalkeepers coach, spent the last three seasons in a similar role at Lynn University.

"I am very excited to have H.B. join our staff and Coastal Carolina Soccer Family,” Hogan said. “His primary role will be to work with our goalkeepers while also helping to build our defensive unit. He has proven to be a great coach, recruiter and hard worker."

In his three years as at Lynn, while helping rebuild the program, he was able to help the defensive unit decrease their goals against by at least 10 goals in both the 2015 and 2016 seasons. During his time at Lynn he was able to work with one NSCAA All-Region and three All-Sunshine State Conference performers.

Prior to his stint at Lynn, Lockwood spent one season (2013) as the assistant coach for both the men’s and women’s soccer programs at Lenoir-Rhyne. Under his guidance, the women’s side posted a goals-against average under 1.00 while the men’s team had their first winning season since 2010.

Lockwood also served as a dual-program assistant at Anderson in his first-ever coaching position. Both Trojans’ keepers, Katilyn Neipp and Lukas Hesse succeeded under his tutelage during the 2012 season.

Neipp posted a school-record 10 shutouts with a 1.02 GAA and .850 save percentage, earning second team All-Southern Athletic Conference honors. Hesse was a second team All-SAC selection, third team All-Southeast Region and was named the Food Lion SAC Tournament Most Valuable Player.

A two-year captain (2010 & 2011), Lockwood went 20-10-1 with six shutouts and a 1.67 GAA as goal keeper. In addition to his time with Limestone, Lockwood played in the USL PDL for three seasons, including two with the Northern Virginia Royals and one with the Vermont Voltage, where he was named to the PDL Team of the Week in June of 2011.

Besides his coaching experience at the college level, Lockwood has previously worked with Team Boca as the Director of Goalkeeping, coached with the South Carolina Olympic Development Program, T.L. Hanna High School in Anderson, Carolina Elite Soccer Academy and for the Catawba Valley Youth Soccer Association.

Lockwood graduated cum laude from Limestone University in 2011 with Bachelors of Science degrees in marketing, management and sport management. He completed his M.B.A. with a concentration in international business from Lynn in the spring of 2017.
