Women's Soccer Adds Krzyzanowski to 2007-08 Recruiting Class

CONWAY, S.C. – The Coastal Carolina University women’s soccer program has announced the signing of Leighana Krzyzanowski (Ontario, N.Y./Wayne Central (Monroe C.C.)) to a National Letter-of-Intent, Head Coach Rohan Naraine announced today. Krzyzanowski becomes the ninth student-athlete to sign with Coastal for the fall of 2008.   Krzyzanowski comes to Coastal after attending Monroe Community College in New York for two years. She is a two-time All-American at Monroe, scoring 27 goals and assisting on 17 others in her career. She was the team’s leading scorer her freshman season and is a two-time First Team All-Region member.   Krzyzanowski was the Section Five Player of the Year and a three-time All-Greater Rochester member at Wayne Central High School in Ontario, N.Y. She scored 82 goals in her career and had a school record 28 assists. She had 23 of those goals as a junior and was twice named the Birds Eye Food Player of the Week. As a freshman, she was the team’s leading scorer and was an All-Daily Messenger First Team selection. Krzyzanowski also was an Honor Roll student at Wayne Central.   Krzyzanowski joins Jessie Benchley (Hudson, Ill./Normal Community West), Kelsie Dreisbach (West Chester, Ohio/Lakota West), Dana Gentile (Utica, N.Y./Whitesboro (Herkimer C.C.)), Molly Johnson (Park Hills, Ky./Notre Dame Academy), Sam Schuller (Charlotte, N.C./Providence), Tori Strengari (Newark, Del./St. Mark’s), Marissa Terry (Charleston, S.C./James Island) and Jennifer Thomas (Leesburg, Va./Loudoun County) in the 2007-08 recruiting class.   Coastal ended the 2007 season after recording a school record 15 wins, a Big South regular season championship and a first trip to the Big South Tournament championship game in school history.
