Doten Receives NSCAA/adidas Scholar-Athlete All-South Region Honors

CONWAY, S.C. – Coastal Carolina women’s soccer player Candice Doten (Reisterstown, Md./Franklin) was named to the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA)/adidas Scholar-Athlete All-South Region third team for the 2003 season.

Doten, who hails from Reisterstown, Maryland and is majoring in accounting, carries a cumulative grade point average of 3.694. The senior goalkeeper was also named to the 2003 Academic All-District III University Division Women’s Soccer Second Team, as selected by CoSIDA. This past season she was named first team All-Big South, earned a spot on the All-Academic team, and was named the Big South Scholar-Athlete of the Year for the second straight season.

In 2003, Doten helped lead the Coastal women’s soccer team to its best overall record, 10-9-2, in program history. She also posted a single-season record five shutouts en route to the squad’s first share of a Big South regular season title, while leading the league in shutouts and goals against average.
