Foley, Ala. - The Coastal Carolina women's soccer team scored three times in the first half to defeat Georgia Southern 4-1 in the Sun Belt championship semi-finals. Coastal will advance to its second consecutive Sun Belt final and will have a rematch with four-time defending champion, South Alabama.

The victory improves the Chants record to 11-7-1 while the Eagles fall to 8-9-2.

The Chanticleers struck first in the 10th minute for the 1-nil lead. Kayla Christian used a quick dribble past an Eagle defender on the left wing and hit the far post for the unassisted goal.

Georgia Southern then looked to regain the momentum by getting some opportunities of their own by winning some of the 50/50 balls and getting off three of their four shots in the half.

The Chanticleers tripled their lead in the 34th minute beginning when Mackenzie Gibbs fed Daniella Famili (10th goal of the season) to push the Chants lead to 2-0. Christian followed up with her second goal of the match 22 seconds later with the assist being credited to Famili to increase the Chanticleers lead to 3-nil.

The second half opened with Coastal using short and crisp passing to keep the Georgia Southern defense on guard. In the 69th minute, Kendall Parks pushed a pass down the middle of the pitch for Elisabeth Rockhill to dribble around Eagle goalkeeper Lauren Karinshak for the open net finish and 4-0 lead.

Georgia Southern got on the scoreboard at the 89:34 mark when Aila Sendra received a pass from Nicole Aussin from just outside the box for the final tally and margin of 4-1.

The Chanticleers offense outshot their opponents 17-11 overall, while the Eagles claimed the corner kick tally at 7-to-6.

Coastal will return to action Sunday (Nov. 5), in Foley, Ala. to take on the Jaguars of South Alabama in the Sun Belt Championship match. Kick-off is scheduled for 2:00/1:00 p.m. (ET/CT).
