CONWAY - The Coastal Carolina women's soccer team played UL Lafayette to a 2-2 draw Sunday afternoon and clinched second place for the Sun Belt regular season. The Chanticleers finish 10-5-3 overall, 6-2-2 in the league.

Coastal finished the season with 20 points, one behind first place finisher, South Alabama, who finished with 21 points.

Prior to the match, CCU seniors Amber Adams, Becca Austin, Melanie Flatter, Hanna Johannsdottir, Sam Patterson, Ellie Taylor and Brittany Temple were honored for their time spent as a Chanticleer.

Coastal outshot the Ragin' Cajuns 27-9 including a 7-3 shots on goal advantage and 11-2 in corner kicks. Daniella Famili led the team with seven shots while senior Adams recorded six shots. Each recorded two shots on frame.

The Ragin' Cajuns struck early in the first half to take a 1-0 lead. A long throw-in into the box found the feet of Carly Ellender, who slipped it in for the go ahead goal.

In the 35th minute, UL Lafayette was called on a hand ball inside the box. Famili stepped up to the line to take the penalty kick and converted to tie the game at 1-1.

The Chanticleers gained the lead, 2-1, in the 64th minute of the second half. A shot from Heston Neal hit the cross-bar and bounced down into the six-yard box to the feet of Brenna Leftwich. With a one-touch volley, Leftwich hammered it home for the lead.

Three minutes later, UL Lafayette responded with a goal in the 67th minute. The Ragin' Cajuns sent a lofted free kick into the box. After bouncing around, Natalie Newman gained control of the ball and drilled it into the back of the net to tie the game at 2-2.

A fueled Chanticleer offense came running to start the first overtime and recoded two near goals. However, the shot attempts were saved by UL Lafayette's goalie Cosette Morche.

In the final minutes of the second overtime, Famili drove the ball down the right flank. Famili sent a low-driven ball across the top of the six-yard box that made its way to Adams on the back post with an open goal. Adams mistouched the ball and sent the shot high over the crossbar.
