Troy, Ala. - Coastal Carolina got an early goal from Daniella Famili and a second-half goal by Baylee Price to lead the Chanticleers to a 2-0 victory Friday evening.

With the win, Coastal remains unbeaten in the past five matches allowing only two goals against. CCU improves to 9-4-2, 6-1-1 in the Sun Belt, while Troy is 6-7-3 (2-3-2).

Coastal started strong netting a goal in the first three minutes of the match. Senior Amber Adams lofted a ball into the box finding Montanna Hill who directed the ball to Famili. Famili slotted the ball away with ease.

The remainder of the first half was quiet for both teams with neither able to record a threatening opportunity.

Troy matched Coastal, 14-14, in shots holding an 11-5 advantage over the second half. The Jaguar's best opportunity came in the 56th minute. A long ball into the box found the head of forward Kate Lorenz but CCU goaltender Becca Austin saved the attempt with an easy grab.

In the 79th minute, Price broke through the Jaguar's defense with a lead on pass from Abby Gashel. Price strides through the midfield to then rocket a shot over the Jaguar's keeper Mikki Lewis for the 2-nil lead.

Austin (7-3-2) notched the victory in goal for the Chanticleers and recorded her fifth shutout of the season.


The Chanticleers will travel to South Alabama Sunday, October 16. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. CT.
