CONWAY - The Coastal Carolina women's soccer team dropped a 2-1 decision to Wofford Sunday afternoon at the CCU Soccer Field.

Freshman midfielder Camille Christie scored the lone goal for the Chanticleers, who fell to 2-3-0 on the season.

Christie scored off a free kick from 35 yards out in the 13th minute to give the Chants a 1-0 lead. Christie's high boot from the right wing sailed just over the leaping Wofford goalkeeper into the top left corner of the net for her first career goal. She became the seventh different Chanticleer to notch a goal this season.

Coastal possessed the ball in Wofford's defensive half for much of the first 25 minutes, but was unable to add to the lead.

The Terriers (3-1-0) tied the game in the 35th minute when a shot from 25 yards out by Maggie Bosley found the top corner.

Neither team was able to create many good scoring opportunities in the second half until Wofford's Annika Jansson scored the deciding goal in the 84th minute. Taking a through-pass near the penalty box, she put a low shot into the right corner.

The Chants' best chance to tie it came with just under three minutes to play, when junior forward Cisca Okoko made a run up the left side and took a long shot that sailed wide.

Coastal finished the game with a 10-7 advantage in shots, with Okoko taking three and senior forward Ashley Day recording two. Wofford had a 6-2 edge in shots on goal.

The Chants next travel to The Citadel for a 4 p.m. game on Friday, Sept. 7. They then host UNC Wilmington on September 13 for their final non-conference game.
