Chants Fall 3-0 to No. 21 North Carolina State
Raleigh, N.C. - Coastal Carolina women's soccer team dropped it first match of the season to No. 21 ranked North Carolina State, Thursday 3-0 at Dail Soccer Stadium.
The loss dropped Coastal's record to 2-1 on the season, while N.C. State improved to 3-0 on the season.
The Wolfpack took a 1-0 lead in the 29th minute, when Ricarda Walkling was able to fire a shot just inside the box to finish at the right post. Walking benefitted on passes from Hannah Keogh, and Tziarra King.
North Carolina State pushed the tempo in the first half outshooting Coastal 10 to zero and taking the corner kick advantage four to one. However the Chanticleer defense stood strong to take a 1-0 deficit into the break.
The Wolfpack struck early in the second half getting an unassisted fast break goal from Kia Rankin to add to their lead 2-0.
In the 84th minute, King scored her first goal of the game getting a shot from the left side of the box and rolling just inside the right post.
CCU will return to action on Sunday, in Conway when they host in-state foe Charleston Southern kickoff is set for 6:00 p.m.
