Chanticleers Improve to 2-0 with 2-1 Victory over College of Charleston
Charleston, S.C. - Coastal Carolina women's soccer team improved to 2-0 on the season with a come-from-behind, 2-1 victory over College of Charleston (1-1), Sunday evening in Charleston.
Sun Belt Preseason Player of the Year Daniella Famili scored twice in the final 45 minutes to lead Coastal to the win. The senior has three goals and two game winners in the first two matches of the season.
College of Charleston got on the board first off a rebound goal by Kalli Vogel in the 30th minute to take the 1-0 lead.
The Chanticleers were fortunate to be down just 1-0 at the break as they were outshot 10-3 in the first half but were kept in the match on the play of freshman keeper Rylee Atteberry.
Coastal rallied after intermission and pushed the offense, finding the back of the net twice to get the win.
Famili took a pass from Hannah Eiden in the 67th minute and scored her second goal in as many games to even the match at one. She then scored the game-winner in the 74th minute to secure the win. Atteberry (six saves on the game) weathered the storm from the Cougars to pick up her second win on the season.
Coastal will travel to Raleigh, N.C. Thursday, Aug. 24 to take on N.C. State of the ACC at 7:00 p.m.
