GREENVILLE, N.C. - The Coastal Carolina women's soccer team notched a 1-0 victory over East Carolina in an exhibition match Sunday afternoon at the ECU Soccer Stadium.

Sophomore Fia Jonsson netted the game's only goal in the 70th minute, putting a 40-yard shot over the Pirates' keeper into the top left corner.

Senior Megan Spencer and sophomore Faith Farley combined on the shutout in goal for the Chanticleers. Spencer played the first 63-plus minutes and made two saves, with Farley also recording two stops in the final 26:40.

Jonsson, last season's Big South Freshman of the Year, recorded three of Coastal's six shots in the game, putting two on goal. Sophomore Charlotte Ratcliff had two shots - one on goal - and freshman Sam Patterson added the other.

East Carolina totaled nine shots and had two corner kicks, while CCU had one.

Coastal plays its season opener against Elon Friday night at the CCU Soccer Field.
