Coastal Women's Soccer Draws Wake Forest 1-1 in Exhibition Match

The Chants will open up its 2016 season August 19th versus Furman at 7 p.m.

Winston-Salem, N.C. - The Coastal Carolina women's soccer team played Wake Forest to a 1-1 draw Saturday evening in Winston-Salem, North Carolina to close out its finale exhibition match.

The Chanticleers took the lead 1-0 in the 17th minute of the match off a counter attack after a Wake Forest advantage. Junior forward Daniella Famili, converted on a penalty kick following a foul in the box.

Coastal held the Demon Deacons until the 64th minute when Peyton Perea scored to tie the game 1-1. Wake Forest's Caroline Wootten dribble past her defender sliding the ball to the far post for Perea to finish.

"Tonights exhibition game was what we needed after nine days of preseason training," said head coach Paul Hogan. "Playing an ACC school will help us prepare for our tough schedule this year. We moved some players around and saw some good things all around."

Senior Amber Adams led the Chanticleers with three shots having two on frame, while Famili had two shots. Becca Austin played all 90 minutes in goal for the Chants notching five saves.
